Book: Thinking with Type
I recently finished Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton. I found the book to be very informative. I am a complete novice when it comes to typography and feel quite apprehensive about which typefaces I should use – before this course I would have just used my best guess, but now I see that designers need to carefully consider their choice – each typeface has its own historical background and connotations. I found the layout and the humour of the book encouraged me to keep reading – the examples help to clarify what is being explained. I definitely will be referring back to this book and there is so much information to take in, but I feel I have made a positive start by reading it.
